I enjoyed this go-round with Peter Grant even better than the first. He is getting a little more comfortable with his magic abilities and their possibilities, but is still pretty naive and irresponsible with his relationships...but none of it is unrealistic.
The plot here deals with jazz musicians inexplicably dropping dead, and some more cases of the vagina dentata we saw in book I. Could they be related? Hmmmmmmmmm
We learn more background on Nightingale, and magic itself, and an enemy escapes, so as to make a sequel inevitable.
All in all a thoroughly pleasant read.
